A Note from Lisa July 2004 Just a little of the June gloom seems to be filtering into this month, but our 4th of July weekend here was just beautiful. I hope you all had a great 4th of July and saw spectacular fireworks, whether you visited family or friends, out of town, doing the barbecuing (we went to Judy & Stephen's), beaching it, or celebrating birthday bashes (Happy 40th Sharon). Or dancing in Phoenix, Michigan or Palm Springs at their dance conventions or around town. Whew.a busy weekend. I remember growing up always clapping and in awe of the fireworks show, I mean it was just on the neighborhood street, everyone gathered around, with "The Box" of fireworks, taking turns lighting them one by one (there were seven of us, our turn seemed to take forever).you remember? Has it changed? I found myself still clapping. We're picking up speed at our Tuesdays "Dance Night Out" at the Crazy Horse in Irvine, CA. Each week more of you are coming down and having a great night of dancing, seeing friends and many of you have commented on how great the music is by Eric. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your support and encouragement and with that, we'll have the best Tuesday Dance Night around. Come warm up or sharpen up your basics with the Beginning West Coast Swing Lesson at 7:00 and get ready for the Intermediate lesson at 7:30. General dancing from 8:00-11:00 and Eric plays all types of music, so come down & dance, dance, dance. The Crazy Horse is by Dave & Busters in the Irvine Spectrum, where the 405 & 5 fwys meet. Ron & Tyoni Martin, owners of the U.S. Open Swing Dance Championships, have generously donated two tickets to their event in San Jose to be raffled off at our September party & dance, Saturday, September 11, 2004. Until then, we will be giving out raffle tickets for this drawing at our monthly dances, we started with our "Jungle Boogie" June dance and our Tuesday nights "Dance Night Out" at the Crazy Horse. So come out and get your free raffle tickets to this prestigious Swing event of the year. Thanks Ron & Tyoni! Speaking of our "Jungle Boogie" June dance, thank you all for coming down even though we had to move the date for the Jack & Jill O'rama. There were jungle animals around the room, small, but there, ginger animal cookies and I was hoping Jeanne would come & dress the part, and she did! Many people came we haven't seen in a while and Eric played terrific music. We also previewed Dena's new Swing song, " Seeing You In My Dreams." Thanks again for all of the help I received from Aaron & Lynda, Jessica, Joshua, Matthew & Rachel, Jer, Eric, JoAnn, Bev, Jasmin & Tim, Jimmy and Andre to make our dance party very successful and fun for all of you. The Jack & Jill O'rama in Anaheim was great this year. This is the first time I was able to do the Pro/Am in four years and Joe S. & I took 2nd! Eric took 2nd with Giovanna in both the Invitational J & J and Strictly Swing and 4th in his Pro/Am! With a lot of dancing & competing, it was fun with our friends & newest students at our tables. There's always things happening in life (I would hope so), and unfortunately it sometimes draws us away from what we love to do, go out dancing. Whether it's for the dancing, doing something together or just seeing friends we haven't seen for quite some time, we miss it. Really miss it. For those of you who have danced before but have been away from it for awhile, sometimes taking a refresher Beginning Level class can be VERY SLOW for you. We do have Dance Videos available at our web site: Dance-Today.The Beginning West Coast Swing, Night Club 2-Step and Hustle videos have an explanation of each video, steps and patterns that are covered and how to order, etc. By reviewing the basics in the solitude of your own home, when you do come back out (much to the surprise of others), you haven't forgotten a thing! We always speak of our dance friends as our extended family and many of you have come or referred family & friends to me to help with that special first wedding dance. It's always fun to teach some of you how to dance for the very first time. Just married in June were Debbie & Will, Mary & John, Maureen & Colby and Dana & Tony. All of you worked hard and did great and thank you for allowing me to be in part of your life! And now Tony will be able to even dance with his Mom, Mary. Congratulations to all of you & wishing you the best forever! There's more, guess it'll have to wait 'til next month. Sharon & Ron both had neck injuries and are on the road to recovery. My Uncle Johnny & our friend Jane are improving daily. And there's so much to tell you about my newest work from home business. You may call me at (714) 330-3689. Try to be productive, keep your energy positive, take care of yourself & those you love and tell them you love them, it's really nice to hear. And Dance-Today.to let your Spirit play.… ~Lisa Our Next Month's dance.
