A Note from Lisa 2005 ******************************************************** Happy Valentine's Day! Okay, January flew by, didn't it? Did you get out your Holiday thank you cards? Are we getting a good jumpstart into the New Year with zest and positiveness? (like that word?) We have twelve, well, now eleven months to try something we've really wanted to do. For our Tuesdays "Dance Night Out" we've relocated to a new venue, how about joining us there for a little dancing? Speaking of a great start, our "Jumpstart January" party & dance was full of color, fun and dancing despite the rain. Thank you to those who's help kept everything running smoothly: Aaron, Lynda, Jessica, Joshua, Matthew & Rachel, Carolyn, Bev, Tim & Jasmin, Laura, Jer, Andre and Eric for the great music. And to all of you who came with umbrella in hand for a great evening out dancing, thank you. Everyone there makes the party! And thanks to those joining us Tuesday nights at the Radisson Hotel Newport for our "Dance Night Out". We're always surprised at who may show up. Friends are always dropping by and catching us up on what's been happening. The lessons are going great, the Beginning West Coast Swing Lesson is at 7:00 p.m., the Intermediate lesson at 7:30 and general dancing at 8:00 p.m. Eric plays fantastic music, the room is all ours, so come, practice what you've learned & dance. Aaron & Laura will greet you at the door. The Radisson Hotel is at 4545 MacArthur Blvd. (& Birch), across the street from Avant Garde in Newport. It's just a thought, but how crazy would you get if you lost your daily planner with all your appointments and important phone numbers, or misplaced your cell phone? Or lock yourself out of your office before a meeting or dance party and didn't have the key? How 'bout a flat tire or a dead car battery, just when you have to be somewhere? I can imagine the thoughts when the computer won't "boot up", the printer gets jammed or runs out of ink in the middle of printing that report. And after a "Oooooh my gosh", "No, no not now" or "I can't believe it" we just shake our head. WHAT ELSE CAN GO WRONG! For some family members and close friends, life's little unexpected happenings aren't the best right now. Losing the ability to do something you loved doing, losing a loved one or discovering having a disease or cancer is tough. This can really be the pits, can't it? Many of you have already experienced this too. The strength, but more, the courage to keep going when dealt such a hardship is absolutely admirable. Doing what needs to be done, moving on, making the best of it and getting on with life. As if that's going to stop you. ;-) I've read that the greater the distance between our expectations and what really is, the greater the disappointment and unfortunately, the anger. The challenges of life can be complex, confusing and misunderstood for all of us. If we can help each other and try not to be so hard on ourselves, it could be a win-win situation. We know we are critical of ourselves. Maybe wishing we could be more like, "that other person". Or what others want for us. Better at this or that, it couldn't possibly be the best dancer, could it? What if you could finish that sentence with, "The best person that I can be"? Blessings & Congratulations go out to Avner & Lyndra and their twin baby girls, Olivia & Lily. Twins, they may be more work or double trouble and yet also double joy, double laughter and love. Friends got together and surprised Brett for his birthday, Judi kept it a great secret. And they have twins too, Nicole & Paige! New classes start next week, check out the new schedule. Remember Gift Certificates make a great "Gift of Dance".
